Cyber Crime Cell Recovers Rs. 61,557 and Rs. 48,792 Cheated by Fraudsters

Lucknow: In an ongoing effort to tackle cybercrime under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Commissionerate Lucknow, the Cyber Crime Cell has successfully recovered a total of Rs. 1,10,349 cheated by fraudsters. The prompt action, guided by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), and supervised by the Assistant Commissioner of Police Cyber Crime, led to the recovery of Rs. 61,557 and Rs. 48,792 from two different complainants’ accounts.

Brief Description of Incidents:

  • Incident 1: Complainant  Pooja Yadav, a resident of Madiyav, reported that a fraudster impersonating an acquaintance tricked her into transferring Rs. 61,557 through fake credit messages.
  • Incident 2: Complainant Pavitra Kumar, a resident of Ashiana, reported that he was duped into transferring Rs. 48,792 under the pretext of updating his credit card KYC.

Action Taken by Cyber Crime Cell:

Both complainants approached the Cyber Crime Cell and filed complaints regarding the fraudulent transactions. Under the leadership of Inspector-in-Charge Shri Satishchandra Sahu, constable Jitendra Singh took immediate action. After coordinating electronically with the concerned banks and telecom companies, the stolen amounts of Rs. 61,557 and Rs. 48,792 were successfully returned to the complainants’ accounts.

Due to the swift intervention by the Cyber Crime Cell, both complainants expressed their gratitude to the Lucknow Police, praising their effective and timely efforts. Action is ongoing to recover the remaining amounts involved in the frauds.

Public Appeal: The Cyber Crime Cell urges citizens to be cautious about fake credit messages and to avoid transferring money without verifying the source. It is advised to complete credit card KYC updates only through official agents, companies, or banks.
